Where will the photographer be?
I normally agree a time with my couples that they would like me to arrive at the venue and where they would like me first. usually with bride to do getting ready shots.
However I will always arrive at least an hour before that, this is when I will find somewhere at the venue to store my equipment, familiarise myself with the ceremony location and get some exterior and detail shots.
Once I have shots of the bride I will usually leave her and find the groom to get pictures with his groomsmen and detail shots of the rings.. (same situation in a Bride/Bride, Groom/Groom wedding scenario).
After that I will return to the Bride and get some final shots before she sets off towards the ceremony.
I will then position myself at the front of the isle, introduce myself to the officiant if I've not done so already. I will then take candid shots of the guests being seated, the groomsmen and the Groom as he waits his wife to be! ( I love the nervous look on the grooms face)
As the ceremony begins and the Bridesmaids arrive I photograph them walking down the isle. Then when the bride arrives I will be stood at the front near the groom photographing her procession to the front. When she arrives I will move aside usually to the left of the officiant ( groom side).
During the ceremony I will take photographs of the couples reactions from different viewpoints. I photograph the ring exchange ** a tip to guarantee a great shot is to hold the ring between your thumb and first finger and slowly place it on the finger when its fully on hold it in position for a few seconds ** this gives the photographer time to get a good shot.
Then when you are announced as Husband and wife and kiss each other, another tip is to hold the kiss for a few seconds.
Once that's done I will position myself at the far end of the aisle and take photos as you walk towards me and you guests and family congratulate you on your marriage.
Do I have to feed my photographer?
The sweet trolley and hog roast is a photographers diet!
This is a common question and something you will need to check with your photographer about, I have now added food and soft drinks to my contract. Its a long day and if I am to do my best work to provide you with great photos I need energy. I don't expect to sit with your family and friends, I often sit in the bar area of the venue
